TROUSDALE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Trousdale County correctional officer has been charged with money laundering after she allegedly admitted to having a relationship with an inmate and wired him thousands of dollars, according to arrest documents.

Arrest documents stated that Nkoli Nwosu, who began working at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center in May 2023, admitted to having a relationship with an inmate at the facility. She told authorities that she provided the inmate with contraband, including:

As investigators looked at the contents of the smuggled cell phone, arrest documents stated they discovered the inmate had paid Nwosu $1,000 for “paper containing synthetic cannabinoids (K-2).

When investigators searched Nwosu’s cellphone, they discovered transactions between the two worth a total of $4,135. Arrest documents added that Nwosu told officers she would use the money to pay her bills and send money to her son in Texas to pay the bills there.

In addition to money laundering, Nwosu faces criminal liability for possession of a telecommunications device in a penal institution and criminal conspiracy charges.
