Woman linked to GISBH pleads not guilty to child exploitation and illegal shelter charges in Klang court, next hearing scheduled for December

KLANG, Oct 30 – A woman associated with GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) has pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of child exploitation in the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Sessions Court early last month.

The suspect, Asmat @ Asmanira Muhamad Ramly, 44, entered her plea before Judge Zulqarnain Hassan after the charges were read out to her.

She is accused of trafficking ten children, all eight years old, for exploitation at the Cahaya Kasih Bestari care center in Kampung Melayu Subang on September 11.

She is charged under sections 415/417 of the Criminal Code and section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smoggling of Migrants Act 2007, which carries life imprisonment and caning if convicted.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Anisah Pisol requested a joint trial of all cases and opposed granting bail to the suspect, who is currently detained under the Security Offenses (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA).

The suspect’s lawyer, Muhd ​​Zaim Rosli, did not object to Anisah’s application, and the court subsequently set December 13 for the next case.

Meanwhile, another woman affiliated with GISBH pleaded not guilty at the Magistrates’ Court to the charge of involvement in the management of an unregistered healthcare center on September 11 in North Klang district.

Mahani Kasim, 54, entered her plea before magistrate Amirul Asyraf Abd Rasid after the charges were read out to her.

She is charged under Section 5(1) of the Child Care Act 1993, which stipulates a maximum fine of RM10,000, imprisonment for up to two years, or both upon conviction. In addition, a maximum daily fine of RM1,000 may be imposed for each day the violation continues.

No bail was offered as the suspect is currently being held under SOSMA, and the next case was scheduled for December 13.

Yesterday, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the two GISBH followers would be charged in the Klang court today. – Bernama
