Two suspects arrested with gun stolen from murdered Wells Fargo HR manager

Nyanza regional DCI coordinator Lenny Kisaka said officers got wind of a planned robbery along the Luanda-Siaya road and laid a trap.

He added that the multi-agency team that responded stopped a private sedan, but the two occupants ignored commands, sparking a gun battle.

Kisaka says the suspects, a man and a woman, then fired bullets into the air, causing police to deflate the car’s tires and send the car off the road.

The male suspect then escaped on foot with gunshot wounds into a nearby bush and boarded a motorcycle, while the female suspect was immediately apprehended and a Ceska pistol with eleven rounds of ammunition was recovered.

The serial number of the gun, Kisaka added, matched that of Ayieko’s stolen weapon, which went missing after his kidnapping and subsequent murder.

Speaking to Ramogi at the Nyanza DCI headquarters in Kisumu, Kisaka said police dogs were immediately deployed and managed to trace the fleeing suspect to a hideout not far from the crime scene.

Despite the suspect being on the run again, a second female suspect was nabbed from the hideout and a police jungle uniform recovered which they suspect the trio used to commit robberies along the Kisumu-Busia highway.

Kisaka has urged the public to be on their guard and report anyone with gunshot wounds who attempts to seek medical attention to the DCI via Fichua number 08100722203.

Meanwhile, he has urged friends and relatives of the late Ayieko to remain calm, saying DCI is handling the matter as a matter of urgency and all those involved will be brought to justice.

The arrest of the duo now brings the total number of suspects arrested to three, after the first suspect was apprehended by DCI officers in Dandora, Nairobi on Tuesday.
