Vidor PD chief’s dashcam video captures pursuit of suspect at speeds up to 120 miles per hour

A police chief was part of a pursuit that turned into a wild ride when an armed suspect stole a pickup truck and led several officers on a chase at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour.

The suspect was eventually captured after a chase that began shortly after 7 a.m. and spanned four counties.

Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll shared his dashcam video with KFDM.

The chase began when a man with a gun stole a 2022 Dodge pickup in Orange. The suspect fled with several officers in pursuit.

Chief Carroll joined the chase and came into contact with other law enforcement agencies.

“Out of lane, Brooks Road, speed 117,” Chief Carroll is heard saying at one point in the dashcam video as the chase continues west into Jefferson County.

Chief Carroll and the others navigated through heavy rain. He ended the chase when Chambers County officers joined them.

The suspect eventually ended up in Channelview, then turned around and sped to Baytown, where he jumped and was eventually caught.

Chief Carroll says at least eight law enforcement agencies participated, attempting to stop the suspect when they learned he was armed.
