The 52-year-old politician assumed the office of vice president, but the position became vacant following the ouster of Rigathi Gachagua on October 17.

During his speech, Kindiki noted that his wife sacrificed her career and helped raise their three children while he served the nation in various capacities.

In his words:

“I would like to pay tribute to four people who have made enormous sacrifices, especially in the fifteen years that I have been in politics. Before that, I had spent ten years in academia, and of course I am also grateful to the professors and colleagues with whom we have worked together. Allow me, at a time like this, to thank my wonderful wife, a woman who sacrificed her profession in her own way, who sacrificed herself in many days to protect our three children, Imani, Neema and Mwende, and nights spent serving the country in various roles, I am very grateful to my wife and the children for being the foundation and providing the support I have always needed as I navigated this difficult space.
