Meth Lab busted in Greater Noida; 95 kg of drugs and other chemicals seized

A joint raid by the NCB and Delhi Police unearthed a meth laboratory in Greater Noida and seized 95 kg of drugs. Four people, including a Tihar jail director, were sent to the police for further investigation.

Nearly 95 kg of drugs, including methamphetamine in solid and liquid form, along with several precursor chemicals and sophisticated manufacturing machinery, were seized after a team from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and a special cell of Delhi Police raided a laboratory in Great Britain. Noida on October 25.

According to a report by India Today, the raid was carried out after officials received information about a clandestine laboratory producing synthetic drugs for both domestic use and export.

It later emerged that the meth lab was run by a prison guard from Tihar, a businessman from Delhi and a chemist from Mumbai. Members of ‘Cartel De Jalisco Nueva Generacion’, a Mexican drug cartel, were also involved in the production of medicines, it turned out.

The Delhi-based businessman, who was found at the scene at the time of the raid, was arrested. He was earlier detained by the Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in connection with a narcotics case, the report claimed, adding that the businessman had built links with the Tihar jail director, who allegedly helped him in obtaining the necessary chemicals and equipment for drug production.

An associate of the businessman was also detained in Delhi’s Rajouri Garden area.

The Mumbai-based chemist was engaged by the other accused to oversee the production process, while quality checks were carried out by a cartel member based in Delhi, the report said.

The four were remanded in custody after being brought to court on October 27.

Further investigation into the matter was conducted.
