“Dancing with the Stars” went under the sea, through the jungle and to ancient Greece on Tuesday. It was “Disney Night.”

The team dance round returned for the first time this season.

“The Bachelorette” Jenn Tran, a University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate, and her professional partner, Sasha Farber, performed the rumba to “Kiss the Girl” from “The Little Mermaid.”

“I think we should recreate the scene from ‘The Little Mermaid,'” Farber told Tran. “It’s so iconic.”

“Ooo, OK!” Tran replied.

“Honey, this is our first date,” Tran told Farber.

“It’s not a date,” he denied.

“Will you try ‘Kiss a Girl’ today?” Tran asked.

When she asked Farber what he thought about their partnership, he replied that from the first day they met, he felt like he had known her “for a long, long time.”

“I have a lot of confidence in you,” Tran said. “I think it really shows on the court.”

“You guys really make this competition so much fun for me,” Farber Tran said. And he may or may not have tried to hold her hand – the jury was out.

Farber said he wanted their Rumba to be “elegant, classy, ​​beautiful – everything that it is.”

Tran, who grew up going to Disney World with her family, remembers going to Ariel’s cave to meet the mermaid princess.

“She had this long, red, beautiful hair. She signed my autograph book and even remembered my name,” Tran said. “It was such a beautiful childhood memory.”

Farber began his adventure with “Dancing with the Stars” playing a crab – like Sebastian, Ariel’s advisor.

Brushing her fake red locks with a fork, Tran, who played Ariel, sat on a boat in the ballroom under the moonlight. Farber, err Prince Eric, helped his partner out of the boat and the pair went into their sweet and gentle dance.

Judges’ Comments for Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber on Week 5 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’

“Honestly, I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get Sasha the crab,” said judge Derek Hough. “Is it weird that I say I ship it? I don’t know, never mind. OK. Let’s move on.”

He called the dance beautiful and said he could see Tran’s improvement week by week.

“I think the confidence that exudes from your body when you move is fantastic,” Derek said.

But when Tran dances rhythmically again, Derek instructed her to focus on her chest rather than her hips “to create a little more fluidity in the movement.”

“Oh honey, in or out of the water, you are always a princess,” Tran told judge Bruno Tonioli.

He was a fan of the refined, classic style of their rumba. It was delicate and romantic, with a “wonderful, delicate fluidity,” he said.

But he called out as she made a slight mistake in turning overhead, causing her to lose some of her balance.

“That was your best dance yet,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said.

Tran is really learning the technique, Inaba said, and can see how much effort it takes on her part.

When Inaba mentioned “issues that are still ongoing” – including missing a corner and slightly losing timing – she was met with boos from the crowd.

“I thought it was really special,” she said. “I deducted a point for mistakes, but I thought it was something special.”

Tran and Farber received 24 out of 30 points, with eights from all three judges. While some of their castmates chanted for them to kiss, that didn’t happen.

“If we had nine, maybe…maybe,” Farber joked.

“Tell them to leave them alone,” said co-host Alfonso Ribeiro. “Leave them alone!”

Team dance competitions return for the first time this season

“For this round, each team will have to work together to earn one team score out of 30 from the judges, which will be added to their individual scores from the first round,” explained co-host Julianne Hough.

She also noted that the stars had to perform part of the dance without their professional partners.

The Roar team consisted of:

• Dwight Howard (team captain) and Daniella Karagach

• Danny Amendola and Witney Carson

• Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold

• Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy

They danced to “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from “The Lion King” and received a score of 24/30.

The Goofs team consisted of:

• Ilona Maher (team captain) and Alan Bersten

• Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson

• Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong

• Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber

They danced to “I2I” from “A Goofy Movie” and received a score of 27/30.

Who won immunity from next week’s dance?

Kinney and Armstrong won immunity for next week’s dance. What’s more, they will start the week with three additional points.

Who was eliminated on week five of “Dancing with the Stars” on Tuesday night?

The live votes were combined with the judges’ scores – from both Tuesday’s partner and team dances – to determine who would be eliminated.

Parks and Chmerkovskiy were cut at the end of the episode.
